Microsoft will be launching a new application next week. TEAMS will be the latest addition to Office 365 and it will be a messaging app that allows work teams to collaborate and communicate effectively.
A Slack Alternative
Slack is a very popular messaging app that has reduced the reliance of email amoung employees. It is a powerful instant messaging app and team collaboration tool.
Slack’s channels allow messages to be segmented by department, topic, groups or any purpose you choose. Channels can be open or private. If you want to communicate only with managers you can create a manager channel.
If you want don’t want a message to go to everyone in a group (Channel) then you can private message an individual. This is more efficient than using email.
Sharing documents and files is easy. Just drag and drop them into Slack. The search functionality in slack allows you to find keywords quickly even within shared documents. One of the best features of Slack is the third party integrations at the API level and through IFTTT and Zapier.

Will Microsoft Teams be a worthy opponent for Slack?
Microsoft TEAMS will be an alternative to Slack but will also have Office application integrations which will appeal to Office 365 customers. But I’m not sure if TEAMS will have the same third party integrations. If TEAMS can integrate with other non-Microsoft Apps it could be a great alternative to SLACK.
I guess we will find out on March 14th when Microsoft is launching TEAMS.
